The Leonor Home is a haven for one youth to grow, to learn, and to thrive- a place to strengthen their skills and be themself, with confidence. A youth placed a the Leonor Home receives individualized support and attention to their care. This program, though unlicensed, operates under the same stipulations of our licensed programs.
Current Bed Availability: No bed availability at this time. Unlicensed option available at Juliet Home.
Welcome to the Leonor Program! Upon placement, the youth receives an introduction to the program, including a tour and orientation to the space and an opportunity to ask questions. This experience is structured to be brief, yet informative, ensuring the youth is aware of their rights and responsibilities in the program.
Our management team works closely with the youth to set personalized goals and develop a comprehensive support plan. The youth is actively involved in creating their support plan, setting goals related to their education, behaviour, physical health, mental health, and other areas of interest or concern. We believe in a collaborative approach and encourage open communication throughout the process.
To support ongoing progress, we schedule regular meetings with the youth and their placing agency to assess the youth's progress and how they are doing in the program. This allows us to highlight any areas of concern and make any necessary adjustments.
The youth residing at the Leonor Program may receive clinical behaviour support and behaviour plan oversight from our Registered Behaviour Analyst (RBA). Depending on the behaviour of the youth, they may have an Antecedent Strategy Plan, which provides staff with proactive strategies to prevent behaviour from occurring, or a Behaviour Support Plan (BSP), which integrates both proactive and consequence strategies to reduce behaviour frequency and intensity.
Each plan is developed with the youth's history, past experiences, and unique needs in mind. Our RBA explains each aspect of the plan to the youth, ensuring their full understanding of each strategy implemented. All behaviour plans are structured to implement the least intrusive measures to reduce behaviour instances. The primary goal of our behaviour support is to reduce behaviour frequency and intensity while avoiding re-traumatization.
We strongly encourage and advocate for each of our youth to be involved in educational activities and skill building during their stay with Barrantes. Regardless of their academic status, any youth placed at the Leonor Program will be provided with the same educational support as all other youth placed with Barrantes. Please see the Isabel Home for more information about education support at our youth programs.
The youth will have an allowance specific to community integration and recreational activities, allowing for meaningful community involvement and real-world application of the skills the youth has learned in the program.
The activities that are available to the youth in the Leonor Program vary based on individual interest. Our staff routinely explore community activities that align with the interests of the youth.
The health and well being of the youth in our homes is of utmost importance. All clients have unrestricted access to medical, dental and vision care with our partnered, local care providers. All routine health assessments are scheduled promptly, with any pertinent findings being communicated and addressed in a timely manner. Medication administration is keenly monitored, with quick attention being brought to any adverse effects or errors.
At the Leonor Program, life skill development and therapeutic engagement are built into the daily programming to ensure a comprehensive and holistic approach to support and learning. We believe that naturalistic opportunities enhance learning and growth and support essential skill building. The structured program is designed to promote autonomy, the development of effective coping skills, and emotional well-being.
Our dedicated team uses a therapeutic approach to guide and support the youth, helping them develop confidence, resilience, and the life skills needed to thrive both within the program and beyond.
